Spokane River Flows Meet Level 2 Drought Response

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane River levels have fallen below 1,000 cubic feet per second, prompting the city to implement Level 2 watering restrictions as per a 2022 ordinance. These regulations prohibit outdoor watering between 10 a. m. and 6 p. m.

and limit residents to two watering days per week. Spokane's summer water usage is four times the national average, and half of the aquifer's recharge is sourced from the Spokane River. Strong community engagement in conservation initiatives has yielded impressive results, saving 45.

5 million gallons of water in 2024 alone. The city encourages adherence to these guidelines to ensure sustainable water management. Local officials continue to monitor river levels and may adjust restrictions as necessary.
