SPD Investigates Several Intentionally Set Fires

Spokane Police arrested Chad Horne, 37, on July 9, 2025, in the Liberty Lake area after he was wanted for 2nd Degree Arson linked to several intentionally set fires. The fires occurred on July 8, damaging four structures, including a fire at My Fresh Basket and an electrical vehicle charging station. Horne was last seen near a Wal-Mart in Spokane Valley before the police received tips leading to his capture. He was also wanted for an unrelated domestic violence charge. Fortunately, no injuries resulted from the arson incidents, but they raised significant concerns due to ongoing hot and dry weather conditions in the region.

The Spokane Police Major Crimes Unit is actively investigating the incidents and seeking additional evidence. The public is encouraged to report any relevant surveillance footage. This case highlights the ongoing challenges law enforcement faces with arson and public safety during extreme weather.
