Multi-Agency Response Controls Dual Fires in Spokane

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane Fire Department crews responded to two grass fires on July 15, first dispatched to East Hartson Avenue around 10:52 a. m. Firefighters quickly contained the initial fire, which threatened a nearby structure, thanks to a coordinated response involving Spokane County Fire District 8 and the Spokane Valley Fire Department. Within 15 minutes, they controlled the fire and began mopping up hot spots. During this phase, crews were redirected to a second fire on East 8th Avenue, where flames spread across residential backyards.

The second fire, attributed to embers from the first, posed an immediate threat to nearby homes and sheds. Spokane Police have launched an investigation after neighbors reported seeing two individuals in the area at the time. Fortunately, no injuries occurred, with damage limited to fences and debris. The Spokane Fire Department warns residents of the risks posed by embers from distant fires and offers resources on safeguarding homes.
