Underhill Sport Court Renovation Ribbon Cutting July 3, 10 a.m.

Spokane will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly renovated sport courts at Underhill Park on July 3 at 10 a. m. The project, completed on time and within budget, includes two renovated basketball courts, two dedicated pickleball courts, new sidewalks, lighting, landscaping, and fence upgrades. Funding sources include the City of Spokane Parks & Recreation, a matching grant from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office, and support from local sponsors. Key speakers at the event will include Mayor Brown and Council President Wilkerson, with youth basketball players from the Spokane Eastside Reunion Association participating in the ceremony.

If approved in November, the Parks & Recreation levy will allow for full renovations of every sport court citywide. Garrett Jones, director of Spokane Parks & Recreation, emphasized the importance of maintaining parks to enhance community engagement and safety. The project aligns with community desires for improved recreational facilities, ensuring parks remain functional and inviting. Spokane Parks and Recreation manages nearly 120 properties, promoting health and quality of life for residents through various recreational opportunities.
