Spokane will celebrate the renovation of Underhill Park's sport courts on July 3 at 10 a. m. , with a ceremony featuring local youth basketball players and city officials. The project, completed on budget and schedule, included the renovation of two basketball courts and two dedicated pickleball courts, along with new sidewalks, lighting, and landscaping. Key speakers will include Mayor Brown and Council President Wilkerson, highlighting the community's investment in recreational facilities.

The renovations were funded by the City of Spokane Parks & Recreation, a matching grant from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office, and contributions from local sponsors. Youth players from the Spokane Eastside Reunion Association will participate in the ribbon-cutting event. If the November Parks & Recreation levy is approved, it will facilitate full renovations of every sport court in Spokane, reflecting community feedback for improved park maintenance. Garrett Jones, director of City of Spokane Parks & Recreation, emphasized the importance of such projects for community engagement and safety. The department manages nearly 120 properties across 4,000 acres, offering diverse recreational opportunities for all ages.
