Water System Project Will Impact Northwest Intersection

Spokane's water system upgrade begins on July 7, 2025, impacting the intersection of Francis Ave. and Assembly St. The project, costing $3. 25 million, includes the installation of a new water transmission main aimed at improving water reliability and supporting future growth. Motorists should prepare for detours and temporary traffic signals, as northbound Assembly St.

will be closed between Rowan Ave. and Francis Ave. /Hwy 291. Southbound Assembly St. will also be closed, requiring drivers to detour via Driscoll Blvd.

Access to the Dwight Merkel Complex will remain available at Rowan Ave. A noise variance allows construction work from 6 a. m. to 6 p. m.

Monday through Saturday. Future phases will include additional street closures on N. Royal Dr. , W. Lyons Ave.

, and N. Rifle Club Rd. This upgrade is part of a broader initiative to enhance the local infrastructure, signaling a commitment to community development.
