Underhill Sport Court Renovation Ribbon Cutting July 3, 10 a.m.

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the renovated sport courts at Underhill Park on July 3, 2025, at 10 a. m. The project features two new basketball courts and two pickleball courts, along with improved sidewalks, lighting, and landscaping, completed on budget and on schedule. Funding came from the City of Spokane Parks & Recreation, a matching grant from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office, and support from local organizations. Mayor Brown and community representatives will speak at the event, emphasizing the importance of these renovations for local youth sports.

Youth basketball players from the Spokane Eastside Reunion Association will participate in the ribbon-cutting. If the Parks & Recreation levy passes in November, every sport court in Spokane could receive similar upgrades, enhancing recreational opportunities citywide. Director Garrett Jones noted that community input emphasized the need for better-maintained parks, which these renovations address. The City of Spokane Parks and Recreation manages nearly 120 properties across 4,000 acres, promoting health and quality of life through diverse recreational opportunities.
