City of Spokane Announces New Deputy Police Ombuds
Spokane has appointed Lissa Mascio as the new Deputy Police Ombuds after a comprehensive national search for qualified candidates. Mascio previously served as the Deputy and acting Legislative and Policy Director for the New Hampshire Office of the Child Advocate, specializing in child welfare. Her professional background includes prosecuting homicide and felony fraud cases, alongside advocating for domestic violence victims. Bart Logue, the Police Ombuds, noted that her experience will facilitate a smooth transition and enhance oversight processes in Spokane. Spokane Police Chief Kevin Hall emphasized that Mascio's commitment to public service will help build trust and accountability between the police department and the community.
Detective Dave Dunkin, President of the Spokane Police Guild, stated that Mascio's hiring reflects the quality of candidates considered for the position. Mascio looks forward to relocating to Spokane and engaging with the community. Outside of work, she enjoys community theater and spending time with her daughter.
