Water System Project Will Impact Northwest Intersection

Spokane's water system upgrade begins on July 7, impacting traffic on Francis Ave. and Assembly St. The project involves installing a new water transmission main to enhance reliability and support future growth. Traffic will be rerouted with temporary signals, and Assembly St. will be closed between Rowan Ave.

and Francis Ave. /Hwy 291. Access to Dwight Merkel Complex will remain available via Rowan Ave. Noise restrictions allow work from 6 a. m.

to 6 p. m. , Monday to Saturday. This initiative is the first phase of a larger project to improve water, sewer, and stormwater systems in the area. Future phases will include closures on additional streets, including N.

Royal Dr. and W. Lyons Ave. The total project cost is $3. 25 million, with completion expected by November 2025.
