Underhill Sport Court Renovation Ribbon Cutting July 3, 10 a.m.

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane will celebrate the ribbon-cutting of renovated sport courts at Underhill Park on July 3, 2025, at 10 a. m. The project, completed on budget and on schedule, included two basketball courts and two pickleball courts, along with new sidewalks, lighting, landscaping, and fence upgrades. Mayor Brown and Council President Wilkerson will speak at the event, with youth basketball players from the Spokane Eastside Reunion Association (SERA) participating in the ceremony. Funding came from the City of Spokane Parks & Recreation, a matching grant from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office, and generous contributions from local organizations.

The renovated courts reopened for community use last fall, and final touches were completed in spring 2025. If voters approve the November Parks & Recreation levy, every sport court in Spokane will receive similar renovations, ensuring better maintained and functional parks. Parks & Recreation Director Garrett Jones emphasized the community's desire for improved park maintenance and the importance of safe, healthy gathering spaces. The city's parks system includes nearly 120 properties across 4,000 acres, promoting recreation for all ages and abilities.
