SPD Investigates Several Intentionally Set Fires

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane Police arrested Chad Horne, 37, for 2nd Degree Arson after a series of intentionally set fires occurred on July 8, 2025. Horne was last spotted near a Wal-Mart in Spokane Valley and was taken into custody shortly before 7 p. m. on July 9. The police developed probable cause for his arrest after receiving tips from the public.

Investigators connected Horne to multiple fires, including those at My Fresh Basket and an electric vehicle charging station, which fortunately did not result in injuries. These incidents alarmed authorities due to the ongoing hot and dry weather conditions in the area. The Spokane Police Major Crimes Unit is actively seeking additional evidence and surveillance footage related to the fires. Horne also had an unrelated warrant for domestic violence, raising further concern regarding his potential threat. Citizens are urged to report any sightings of Horne or new fires by calling 911.
