Area Fire Marshals and Surrounding Cities Enact Burn Restrictions

Spokane, WALocal News

Effective June 30, 2025, fire marshals across the Spokane region have enacted burn restrictions to address the heightened risk of wildfires. Recent weather patterns, including low rainfall and warm temperatures, have contributed to this decision, despite earlier unseasonably cool conditions. All unauthorized open burning and recreational fires are prohibited, while designated portable outdoor devices may still be used if compliant with safety regulations. Fire Marshal Lance Dahl stated that these measures are crucial for community protection against human-caused wildfires. Deputy Fire Marshal Ken Johnson echoed the importance of fire safety and vigilance during the 2025 wildfire season.

Residents should familiarize themselves with the guidelines to help maintain air quality and prevent unplanned fires. The consequences for non-compliance include misdemeanor charges if individuals fail to extinguish prohibited fires when ordered. This proactive approach aims to safeguard lives and property in the region.
