Underhill Sport Court Renovation Ribbon Cutting July 3, 10 a.m.

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 3 at 10 a. m. to celebrate the renovation of sport courts at Underhill Park. The project included upgrades such as two basketball courts, two dedicated pickleball courts, and enhancements to lighting, landscaping, and sidewalks. Mayor Brown and other local dignitaries will speak, with youth basketball players from the Spokane Eastside Reunion Association participating in the ceremony.

This renovation was completed on time and within budget, funded by the City of Spokane Parks & Recreation and a matching state grant. The community expressed a desire for better-maintained parks, which influenced the decision to upgrade sport courts. If the November Parks & Recreation levy is approved, it will allow for the renovation of every sports court in Spokane. "Seeing a sport court like this, enjoyed by all ages and abilities, infuses positive activation into our neighborhood parks," stated Garrett Jones, director of Spokane Parks & Recreation. The city manages nearly 120 properties across 4,000 acres, aiming to improve quality of life through enhanced recreational opportunities.
