Area Fire Marshals and Surrounding Cities Enact Burn Restrictions

Spokane, WALocal News

In light of increasing wildfire risks, Spokane area fire marshals enacted burn restrictions starting June 30, 2025, despite recent rainfall. The countywide restrictions aim to reduce human-caused wildfires and protect community air quality. Fire Marshal Lance Dahl noted that outdoor burn restrictions are common during dry summer months to safeguard homes and wildlands. Unauthorized open burning and recreational fires are prohibited, with exceptions for approved manufactured outdoor devices. The Spokane Valley Fire Department urges residents to practice fire safety and report any signs of fire.

Continued warm and dry conditions have intensified the fire risk across the region. Violators of the burn restrictions may be charged with misdemeanors for non-compliance. These measures reflect the community's commitment to preventing wildfires during the 2025 season.
