Area Fire Marshals and Surrounding Cities Enact Burn Restrictions

Spokane, WALocal News

Effective June 30, 2025, Fire Marshals across the Spokane Metro Area have enacted burn restrictions due to increased fire risks despite recent rain. The ban includes all outdoor burning and unauthorized recreational fires, aiming to reduce human-caused wildfires as high temperatures are anticipated. Fire Marshal Lance Dahl stated that these restrictions are crucial for safeguarding homes and wildlands during the dry summer months. Residents must adhere to the guidelines, which allow only manufactured portable outdoor devices under strict conditions. Deputy Fire Marshal Ken Johnson noted that continued warm and dry weather exacerbates the wildfire threat.

The authorities aim to maintain air quality, especially for vulnerable populations like the elderly and those with respiratory issues. Violations of the burn restrictions may lead to misdemeanor charges. Residents are urged to report any signs of fire and consult local agencies with questions about the restrictions.
