SPD Investigates Several Intentionally Set Fires

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane Police arrested Chad Horne, 37, on July 9, 2025, for 2nd Degree Arson after a series of deliberately set fires occurred the previous day. Police had probable cause to detain Horne following sightings near a Walmart in Spokane Valley, where he was last seen before his arrest. He is described as a white male, 5'11", slim build, wearing dark bike shorts and a black tank top at the time. Horne also faces an unrelated warrant for domestic violence. The arson incidents, which involved four structures, raised alarm due to the region's hot and dry weather conditions.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but authorities are actively investigating the fires' links and searching for more evidence. The Spokane Police Major Crimes Unit is urging anyone with relevant information or surveillance footage to assist in the investigation. Community members are advised to report any sightings of Horne or new fires to 911.
