Underhill Sport Court Renovation Ribbon Cutting July 3, 10 a.m.

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 3 at 10 a. m. to celebrate the renovation of sport courts at Underhill Park. The project, completed on budget and schedule, features two renovated basketball courts, two dedicated pickleball courts, new sidewalks, lighting, and landscaping. Funding came from the City of Spokane Parks & Recreation, a matching grant from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office, and support from local businesses.

Special guests, including Mayor Brown and youth players from the Spokane Eastside Reunion Association (SERA), will participate in the ceremony. Community feedback through the Master Plan outreach indicated a strong desire for better-maintained parks, which this renovation addresses. If the proposed Parks & Recreation levy passes in November, it would facilitate full renovations of every sport court in the city. "Seeing a sport court like this... helps ensure they are safe, healthy gathering places," noted Parks & Recreation Director Garrett Jones.

Spokane Parks and Recreation manages nearly 120 properties, aiming to enhance the community’s quality of life through improved recreational opportunities.
