Underhill Sport Court Renovation Ribbon Cutting July 3, 10 a.m.

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 3 at 10 a. m. to celebrate the renovation of sport courts at Underhill Park. The project included two renovated basketball courts, two pickleball courts, new sidewalks, lighting, landscaping, and fence upgrades, all completed on budget and on schedule. Funding was provided by the City of Spokane Parks & Recreation, a matching grant from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office, and generous donations from local organizations.

Dignitaries, including Mayor Brown, will speak at the event, alongside youth basketball players from the Spokane Eastside Reunion Association. If the proposed Parks & Recreation levy passes in November, it will allow for renovations of all sport courts citywide. Garrett Jones, director of Spokane Parks & Recreation, noted that community input through the Master Plan outreach influenced these renovations. The initiative aims to create safe and welcoming parks for residents of all ages and abilities. Spokane Parks and Recreation manages nearly 120 properties across 4,000 acres, enhancing community health and quality of life.
