A false report of a shooting disrupted the July 4th celebration at Riverfront Park, causing panic among attendees. The incident began around 10 PM when an altercation occurred near the clocktower, leading to initial reports of a possible gun being involved. Officers quickly approached a male linked to the altercation, who was confirmed to be unarmed, and no victims emerged to report a crime. As officers continued their investigation, misinformation circulated, causing attendees to flee the park. Officers, stationed throughout the area, confirmed no shooting had occurred.

To restore calm, authorities sent out a reverse 911 text notifying the public of the absence of any danger. This incident highlights the challenges law enforcement faces in managing public safety during large events. Despite the confusion, the celebration resumed without further incidents.
