City of Spokane Announces New Deputy Police Ombuds

The City of Spokane has appointed Lissa Mascio as the new Deputy Police Ombuds after a thorough national search. Mascio brings a wealth of experience from New Hampshire, where she worked in the Office of the Child Advocate and prosecuted various criminal cases. As part of her legal expertise, she has focused on child welfare and domestic violence advocacy. Police Ombuds Bart Logue emphasized her strong legal background and analytic skills, which are expected to enhance Spokane's oversight processes. Spokane Police Chief Kevin Hall highlighted Mascio's public service commitment, anticipating it will strengthen trust and accountability with the community.

Detective Dave Dunkin from the Spokane Police Guild commended the selection process and expressed optimism about Mascio's impact on police oversight. Mascio, originally from Queens, New York, holds a B. A. in Journalism and English and a law degree from Hofstra University. Outside of work, she enjoys community theater and spending time with her daughter.
