Underhill Sport Court Renovation Ribbon Cutting July 3, 10 a.m.

Spokane, WALocal News

The City of Spokane will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 3 at Underhill Park to mark the completion of its sport court renovations. Dignitaries, including Mayor Brown, will join youth players from the Spokane Eastside Reunion Association (SERA) for the event. The project, which upgraded two basketball courts and two pickleball courts, was completed on budget and schedule, funded by city resources and a matching grant from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office. Garrett Jones, director of Spokane Parks & Recreation, noted that community input significantly influenced the decision to enhance park facilities. If the November Parks & Recreation levy is approved, it would allow for similar renovations across all sport courts in Spokane.

This initiative reflects a broader commitment to community health and safety in public spaces. The renovations aim to create functional and welcoming environments for residents of all ages and abilities. Spokane Parks & Recreation manages nearly 120 properties and offers various recreational opportunities to improve community health.
