City of Spokane Announces New Deputy Police Ombuds
The City of Spokane appointed Lissa Mascio as the new Deputy Police Ombuds, a decision made after a national search for qualified candidates. Mascio previously worked as Deputy and acting Legislative and Policy Director for the New Hampshire Office of the Child Advocate, focusing on child welfare. Her experience includes prosecuting felony cases and developing policies in the New Hampshire Department of Corrections, which will be beneficial for Spokane's oversight processes. Police Ombuds Bart Logue emphasized her strong legal background and unanimous selection by the committee. Spokane Police Chief Kevin Hall highlighted Mascio's commitment to public service and her potential to enhance trust between the police and the community.
The Spokane Police Guild also expressed confidence in her hiring, noting the impressive pool of candidates. Mascio, originally from Queens, New York, has lived in multiple states and brings a diverse perspective. She is excited to relocate to Spokane and engages in community activities outside of work.
