SPD Investigates Several Intentionally Set Fires

Spokane Police arrested Chad Horne for 2nd Degree Arson following a series of intentionally set fires on July 8, 2025. Investigators had probable cause to arrest Horne, 37, after he was spotted near Walmart in Spokane Valley around 2:00 p. m. on July 9. He was described as a white male, 5'11" with a slim build, last seen wearing dark bike shorts, a black tank top, and a white headband.

Police received numerous tips from the public that assisted in locating him before 7:00 p. m. on July 9. Horne also faced an unrelated warrant for domestic violence, adding to the urgency of his capture. The Spokane Police Major Crimes Unit is investigating four separate structures set ablaze, with no reported injuries.

Officials emphasize the dangers of arson, especially in the context of hot, dry weather conditions. They urge anyone with pertinent information or surveillance footage to contact Crime Check at 509. 456. 2233.
