Spokane will celebrate the renovation of sport courts at Underhill Park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 3, 2025, at 10 a. m. The project included two renovated basketball courts, two dedicated pickleball courts, new sidewalks, lighting, landscaping, and fence upgrades, all completed on budget and schedule. Funding sources included the City of Spokane Parks & Recreation, a matching state grant, and generous contributions from local sponsors like Spokane Hoopfest Association and Dick’s Sporting Goods. Youth basketball players from the Spokane Eastside Reunion Association will assist in the ceremony, highlighting community involvement.

If the November Parks & Recreation levy passes, every sport court in Spokane will receive renovations, reflecting residents' desires for better-maintained parks. Parks and Recreation Director Garrett Jones noted that such improvements promote safe and engaging community spaces. The Underhill Park project aligns with the city’s Master Plan, aiming to enhance recreational facilities across Spokane. The upgrades signal a commitment to fostering healthy, active neighborhoods for residents of all ages.
