Spokane has appointed Lissa Mascio as the new Deputy Police Ombuds after a national search for qualified candidates. Mascio previously worked as the Deputy and acting Legislative and Policy Director for New Hampshire's Office of the Child Advocate, focusing on child welfare. Her legal experience includes prosecuting homicides and advocating for domestic violence victims. Police Ombuds Bart Logue commended her unanimous selection, noting her strong background in law enforcement oversight. Spokane Police Chief Kevin Hall expressed optimism about Mascio's ability to foster trust within the community.

Detective Dave Dunkin, President of the Spokane Police Guild, highlighted the high-quality candidates vying for the role, affirming that Mascio is the best choice. Mascio is excited to join the Office of the Police Ombuds and relocate to Spokane. Outside of work, she enjoys community theater and traveling.
