Area Fire Marshals and Surrounding Cities Enact Burn Restrictions

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane area fire marshals enacted burn restrictions on June 30, 2025, due to elevated wildfire risks from warm, dry conditions. The restrictions prohibit unauthorized open burning and recreational fires, with violators facing misdemeanor charges under local law. Fire Marshal Lance Dahl highlighted the necessity of these measures for community safety while Deputy Fire Marshal Ken Johnson called for vigilance among residents. The fire departments aim to mitigate human-caused wildfires, especially with high temperatures predicted. These burn restrictions also address air quality concerns, as smoke can adversely affect the respiratory health of vulnerable populations.

Manufactured outdoor devices, like grills and chimineas, are permitted when used correctly. Designated campfires in parks may be allowed with agency approval. Residents are encouraged to follow safety guidelines and report any signs of fire immediately.
