Underhill Sport Court Renovation Ribbon Cutting July 3, 10 a.m.

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane will celebrate the completion of renovated sport courts at Underhill Park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 3, 2025, at 10 a. m. The project included two renovated basketball courts and two dedicated pickleball courts, along with new sidewalks, lighting, landscaping, and fence upgrades. This renovation, funded by the City of Spokane Parks & Recreation and a matching grant from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office, was completed on budget and on schedule. Youth basketball players from the Spokane Eastside Reunion Association will participate in the ceremony, which includes speeches from local dignitaries.

Garrett Jones, the Parks & Recreation director, highlighted the importance of community feedback in prioritizing park renovations. If approved, a Parks & Recreation levy in November could facilitate similar renovations for every sport court in Spokane. The city manages nearly 120 properties across 4,000 acres, focusing on enhancing community health and quality of life through accessible recreational opportunities. Spokane Parks & Recreation encourages residents to engage with their local parks and recreation services.
