SPD Investigates Several Intentionally Set Fires

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane Police arrested Chad Horne for 2nd Degree Arson following a series of deliberately set fires on July 8, 2025. Horne, 37, was taken into custody in the Liberty Lake area after tips from the public led police to his location. He had been wanted on an unrelated domestic violence charge and is now under investigation for his role in several arson incidents that caused significant concern given the area's hot and dry weather conditions. The fires damaged multiple properties, including a grocery store and a vehicle charging station, but no injuries were reported. Authorities are urging anyone with surveillance footage or information about Horne's whereabouts to come forward.

The Spokane Police Major Crimes Unit is actively gathering evidence and investigating possible connections to other related fires. The swift response from the community in sharing tips played a crucial role in Horne's apprehension. Ongoing efforts will focus on ensuring community safety and preventing further incidents.
