City of Spokane Announces New Deputy Police Ombuds

Spokane has appointed Lissa Mascio as the new Deputy Police Ombuds, following a thorough national search. Mascio brings a wealth of experience, having served as the Deputy and acting Legislative and Policy Director for the New Hampshire Office of the Child Advocate, where she focused on child welfare. Her background includes prosecuting abuse and neglect cases and advocating for domestic violence victims. Bart Logue, the Police Ombuds, commended her strong legal skills and ability to oversee corrections and law enforcement uses of force. Spokane Police Chief Kevin Hall expressed confidence that Mascio will strengthen community trust and police accountability.

Detective Dave Dunkin from the Spokane Police Guild emphasized the high quality of candidates and endorsed Mascio's hiring as a positive step for the Office of the Ombuds. Mascio, originally from Queens, New York, is excited to relocate to Spokane and engage with the community. Outside of her professional duties, she enjoys community theater and spending time with her daughter.
