SPD Investigates Several Intentionally Set Fires

Chad Horne, 37, is in police custody following his arrest in Liberty Lake on July 9, 2025, as part of an investigation into a string of arson incidents. Spokane Police developed probable cause for Horne's arrest after he was seen near a Wal-Mart in Spokane Valley. He reportedly changed clothing and may have fled eastbound on foot before being apprehended. Horne is also wanted for an unrelated domestic violence charge, prompting investigators to seek public assistance. The arson incidents, which occurred on July 8, 2025, included fires at multiple locations, causing significant concern given the hot and dry weather conditions.

No injuries were reported, but the Spokane Police Department emphasizes the importance of community vigilance in preventing further incidents.
