Underhill Sport Court Renovation Ribbon Cutting July 3, 10 a.m.

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane will celebrate the completion of renovated sport courts at Underhill Park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 3 at 10 a. m. The project included the addition of two basketball courts and two dedicated pickleball courts, all completed on budget and on schedule. Funding sources included the City of Spokane Parks & Recreation, a matching grant from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office, and donations from local organizations like Spokane Hoopfest Association. Youth basketball players from the Spokane Eastside Reunion Association will participate in the ribbon-cutting.

Additionally, a November Parks & Recreation levy could enable citywide renovations of all sport courts if approved by voters. Garrett Jones, director of City of Spokane Parks & Recreation, noted that public feedback highlighted the community's desire for better-maintained parks. The renovated courts have already reopened for community use, enhancing neighborhood engagement and safety. Spokane Parks and Recreation manages nearly 120 properties, aiming to improve health and quality of life for residents.
