Underhill Sport Court Renovation Ribbon Cutting July 3, 10 a.m.

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane will celebrate the renovation of Underhill Park's sport courts with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 3 at 10 a. m. The project, completed on budget and on schedule, included two basketball courts, two dedicated pickleball courts, new sidewalks, lighting, landscaping, and fence upgrades. Funding was provided by City of Spokane Parks & Recreation, a matching grant from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office, and support from local organizations. Youth from the Spokane Eastside Reunion Association will assist in the ceremony, highlighting community involvement.

If the Parks & Recreation levy is approved in November, every sport court in the city could receive similar renovations. Garrett Jones, director of Parks & Recreation, noted community desires for better-maintained parks. The department manages nearly 120 properties across 4,000 acres, providing diverse recreational opportunities. The renovations aim to create functional, safe gathering spaces for residents of all ages.
