SPD Investigates Several Intentionally Set Fires

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane Police arrested Chad Horne, 37, in Liberty Lake at approximately 7 p. m. on July 9, 2025, following a manhunt related to a series of arsons that occurred the previous day. Horne was wanted for 2nd Degree Arson after being spotted near a Wal-Mart in Spokane Valley just hours earlier. He was last seen wearing dark shorts and a black tank top, prompting police to appeal for public assistance in locating him.

The Major Crimes Unit had probable cause to arrest Horne after investigating multiple deliberately set fires, including one at My Fresh Basket and another at an electrical vehicle charging station, which occurred early on July 8. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the incidents, but police expressed concern due to hot and dry weather conditions. Horne also faced an unrelated warrant for domestic violence, raising the stakes for his apprehension. The police urged anyone with relevant information or surveillance footage to come forward. Spokane Police continue to investigate and gather evidence in connection with the arson cases.
