Underhill Sport Court Renovation Ribbon Cutting July 3, 10 a.m.

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane will celebrate the ribbon-cutting of renovated sport courts at Underhill Park on July 3 at 10 a. m. The project features two basketball courts, two dedicated pickleball courts, new sidewalks, lighting, and landscaping, all completed on budget and schedule. Special guests at the ceremony include Mayor Brown and Council President Wilkerson, with youth basketball players participating in the ribbon-cutting. If approved by voters, a Parks & Recreation levy in November could fund full renovations for every sports court in Spokane.

Garrett Jones, director of Spokane Parks & Recreation, highlighted community feedback advocating for better-maintained parks. The renovations aim to create safe, functional gathering places for all ages and abilities. Funding came from the City of Spokane Parks & Recreation, a matching grant from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office, and local sponsors. Spokane Parks and Recreation manages nearly 120 properties, enhancing community health and quality of life through recreation opportunities.
