Water System Project Will Impact Northwest Intersection

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane's Public Works department will begin a significant infrastructure project on July 7, focusing on installing a new water transmission main to improve water reliability in the northwest region. The project will impact traffic at the intersection of Francis Ave. and Assembly St. , with northbound and southbound Assembly St. closed during the first phase.

Motorists are advised to plan for detours, and construction is expected to last until November 2025, costing an estimated $3. 25 million. Temporary traffic signals will manage rerouted traffic, while access to the Dwight Merkel Complex remains available at Rowan Ave. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance water, sewer, stormwater, and traffic infrastructure in the area. A noise variance permits work from 6 a.

m. to 6 p. m. , Monday through Saturday. Future phases will include additional street and lane closures on N.

Royal Dr. , W. Lyons Ave. , and W. Woodside Ave.

Citizens can find ongoing updates and obstruction information on the city's construction webpage.
