City of Spokane Announces New Deputy Police Ombuds

The City of Spokane appointed Lissa Mascio as the new Deputy Police Ombuds after a comprehensive national search. Mascio previously served as the Deputy and acting Legislative and Policy Director for the New Hampshire Office of the Child Advocate, focusing on child welfare. She has a diverse legal background, including prosecuting serious crimes and advocating for domestic violence victims. Bart Logue, the Police Ombuds, emphasized her unanimous selection based on her strong legal background and oversight experience. Spokane Police Chief Kevin Hall noted that Mascio's commitment to public service will enhance trust between the police and the community.

Detective Dave Dunkin from the Spokane Police Guild highlighted the quality of candidates and expressed optimism for Mascio's fresh perspective on police oversight. Mascio is enthusiastic about her new role and looks forward to relocating to Spokane. Outside of work, she enjoys community theater and spending time with her daughter.
