SPD Investigates Several Intentionally Set Fires

Spokane Police Major Crimes Unit investigates a series of intentionally set fires early on July 8, 2025. The Spokane Fire Department responded to multiple incidents, including a fire at My Fresh Basket and a damaged electric vehicle charging station on the Washington State University campus. In total, four structures were set ablaze, with no injuries reported, which raises alarm due to the forecast of hot, dry, and windy weather. Investigators from both the Spokane Police MCU and Spokane Fire Department are gathering evidence at each scene. Police emphasize the urgency of collecting evidence and urge the public to share any surveillance footage.
