City of Spokane Announces New Deputy Police Ombuds

The City of Spokane has appointed Lissa Mascio as the new Deputy Police Ombuds after conducting a national search for qualified candidates. Previously, Mascio served in New Hampshire as the Deputy and acting Legislative and Policy Director for the Office of the Child Advocate, where she focused on child welfare issues. Her extensive legal experience includes prosecuting homicides and overseeing policies related to corrections and law enforcement. Spokane Police Ombuds Bart Logue praised her unanimous selection, emphasizing her strong legal background and investigative skills. Spokane Police Chief Kevin Hall expressed confidence that Mascio's commitment to public service will enhance trust between the police department and the community.

Detective Dave Dunkin, President of the Spokane Police Guild, noted the high caliber of applicants and endorsed Mascio as the best choice for the role. Mascio expressed enthusiasm about joining the Office of the Police Ombuds and relocating to Spokane. She enjoys community theater and spending time with her daughter outside of work.
