Pedestrian and Bike Improvement Projects Begin Next Week

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane will begin two pedestrian and bicycle improvement projects on June 30 to enhance safety and connectivity. The Lincoln St. project will close the street between Boone Ave. and Sinto Ave. until September, adding buffered bike lanes and a new traffic signal at Broadway Ave.

Detours will guide motorists through alternative routes, while local residential access will be maintained. The Maxwell Ave. upgrades will run from Pettet Dr. to Walnut St. , expected to conclude in October, featuring new sidewalks and crosswalk enhancements.

These initiatives aim to support local businesses and improve public health, backed by funding from Washington’s Climate Commitment Act. This funding focuses on reducing climate pollution and creating jobs through infrastructure improvements. Motorists should prepare for slower traffic and delays during peak hours. Community members are encouraged to support businesses affected by the construction.
