Area Fire Marshals and Surrounding Cities Enact Burn Restrictions

Spokane, WALocal News

Fire Marshals across the Spokane Metro Area implemented burn restrictions on June 30, 2025, due to heightened wildfire risks linked to rising temperatures. The restrictions ban unauthorized open burning and recreational fires to reduce human-caused wildfires. Fire Marshal Lance Dahl from the Spokane Fire Department noted that such measures are typical during warm, dry summer months. Deputy Fire Marshal Ken Johnson of Spokane Valley urged community members to remain alert and practice fire safety. The region's low spring rainfall and mild winter have intensified the risk.

Violators who fail to extinguish unauthorized fires may be charged with a misdemeanor. The public is encouraged to utilize approved outdoor devices like barbeques and chimineas, following manufacturer guidelines. For further information, residents should contact their local fire agencies before lighting any fires.
