Underhill Sport Court Renovation Ribbon Cutting July 3, 10 a.m.

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 3, 2025, for the newly renovated sport courts at Underhill Park, featuring two basketball courts and two pickleball courts. The project, completed on budget and ahead of schedule, also includes new sidewalks, lighting, and landscaping upgrades. Funding was provided by the City of Spokane Parks & Recreation, a matching grant from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office, and support from local organizations like Spokane Hoopfest Association. The ceremony will feature youth basketball players from the Spokane Eastside Reunion Association, who will assist in cutting the ribbon. If the Parks & Recreation levy passes in November, every sport court in Spokane could receive similar renovations, enhancing community recreational opportunities.

Garrett Jones, director of City of Spokane Parks & Recreation, emphasized the importance of well-maintained parks for community engagement and safety. The department manages nearly 120 properties across 4,000 acres, offering diverse recreational activities. This renovation aligns with community desires for more functional and welcoming park spaces.
