Underhill Sport Court Renovation Ribbon Cutting July 3, 10 a.m.

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 3 at 10 a. m. to celebrate the completion of renovated sport courts at Underhill Park. The project, which included two basketball courts and two dedicated pickleball courts, was finished on time and within budget. Mayor Brown, Council President Wilkerson, and other local leaders will address attendees, with youth basketball players from the Spokane Eastside Reunion Association participating in the ceremony.

Funding for this renovation came from the City of Spokane Parks & Recreation, a matching grant from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office, and sponsorships from local businesses. The community's feedback indicated a strong desire for improved park maintenance, making this renovation an important step in ensuring parks are functional and welcoming. The renovated courts reopened for community use in the fall, with final landscaping completed in spring. If the proposed Parks & Recreation levy passes in November, it will enable similar renovations for every sport court in Spokane. This initiative aims to create safe, healthy gathering places for residents of all ages and abilities.
