Water System Project Will Impact Northwest Intersection

Spokane's major infrastructure project will commence on July 7, affecting traffic flow at the busy intersection of Francis Ave. and Assembly St. This initiative involves installing a new water transmission main to improve water reliability and accommodate future growth in northwest Spokane. The project will unfold in three phases, with the first phase expected to be completed by November 2025 and costing $3. 25 million.

Northbound Assembly St. will be closed between Rowan Ave. and Francis Ave. /Hwy 291, while southbound Assembly St. will also experience closures, necessitating detours for drivers.

Temporary traffic signals will be established to manage the altered traffic patterns. A noise variance allows work to proceed from 6 a. m. to 6 p. m.

, Monday through Saturday. As the project advances, further lane and street closures will occur in the subsequent phases. Local businesses affected by the construction are encouraged to receive community support during this necessary upgrade.
