Water System Project Will Impact Northwest Intersection

Spokane's $3. 25 million water system upgrade begins on July 7, affecting traffic at the Francis Ave. /Hwy 291 and Assembly St. intersection. Northbound Assembly St.

will close between Rowan Ave. and Francis Ave. /Hwy 291, while southbound Assembly St. will also be closed in the same area. Temporary traffic signals will be implemented to manage rerouted traffic, and a noise variance allows construction from 6 a.

m. to 6 p. m. , Monday through Saturday. The project represents the first phase of a larger effort to enhance water, sewer, stormwater, and traffic infrastructure, with completion anticipated by November 2025.

This initiative aims to bolster water reliability and support future growth in northwest Spokane. Future phases will also involve additional street closures, impacting areas like N. Royal Dr. and W. Lyons Ave.
