Water System Project Will Impact Northwest Intersection

Spokane's water system will undergo significant upgrades, starting July 7, impacting traffic on west Francis Ave. /Highway 291 and north Assembly St. The installation of a new water transmission main aims to improve water reliability and accommodate future growth. This first phase begins at the junction of Francis Ave. /Hwy 291, Assembly St.

, and Driscoll Blvd. , progressing west to Rifle Club Rd. The total project cost is projected at $3. 25 million, with completion expected in November 2025. Temporary traffic signals will reroute traffic, and both northbound and southbound Assembly St.

will be closed between designated points. Access to Dwight Merkel Complex will remain open at Rowan Ave. A noise variance permits work from 6 a. m. to 6 p.

m. Monday through Saturday. Future phases will include additional closures on nearby residential streets.
