Area Fire Marshals and Surrounding Cities Enact Burn Restrictions

Spokane, WALocal News

The Spokane area fire marshals announced countywide burn restrictions effective June 30, 2025, in response to increased wildfire risks. Recent weather conditions, including lower temperatures and more rain, have not eliminated the threat posed by human activities. The restrictions prohibit unauthorized open burning and recreational fires, with the goal of reducing fire hazards. Fire Marshal Lance Dahl highlighted the necessity of these measures for protecting homes and wildlands during the summer season. Deputy Fire Marshal Ken Johnson urged the community to remain vigilant and report any fire signs.

Residents are permitted to use certain manufactured outdoor devices under specific guidelines. Non-compliance with the burn restrictions can lead to misdemeanor charges as per local regulations. These measures aim to maintain air quality and protect vulnerable populations from smoke-related health issues.
