Underhill Sport Court Renovation Ribbon Cutting July 3, 10 a.m.

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane will celebrate the reopening of renovated sports courts at Underhill Park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 3, 2025. The renovation included two upgraded basketball courts and two dedicated pickleball courts, along with enhancements like new sidewalks, lighting, and landscaping. This project, completed on budget, was funded by the City of Spokane Parks & Recreation, a matching grant from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office, and support from local organizations like the Spokane Hoopfest Association. Youth basketball players will help cut the ribbon, and speakers will include Mayor Brown and Park Board leader Bob Anderson. Community surveys indicated a strong desire for improved park maintenance, leading to this initiative.

If the Parks & Recreation levy passes in November, it will allow for renovations of every sports court citywide. Spokane Parks & Recreation manages nearly 120 properties across 4,000 acres, providing diverse recreational opportunities. The renovation aims to create safe, functional gathering spaces for residents of all ages and abilities.
