Underhill Sport Court Renovation Ribbon Cutting July 3, 10 a.m.

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane will celebrate the ribbon-cutting of renovated sport courts at Underhill Park on July 3, 2025, at 10 a. m. The project included two new basketball courts, two dedicated pickleball courts, sidewalks, lighting, landscaping, and fence upgrades, all completed on budget and schedule. Funding came from the City of Spokane Parks & Recreation, a matching grant from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office, and sponsorship from local organizations. Dignitaries, including Mayor Brown and Council President Wilkerson, will speak at the event, which will feature youth players from the Spokane Eastside Reunion Association assisting with the ribbon-cutting.

The city plans to pursue a Parks & Recreation levy in November, which would fund renovations for every sport court in Spokane. Parks & Recreation Director Garrett Jones emphasized the importance of maintaining parks to ensure they are welcoming and safe for community use. Spokane Parks and Recreation manages nearly 120 properties across 4,000 acres, offering diverse recreational opportunities. This initiative reflects the community's demand for better-maintained parks.
