Area Fire Marshals and Surrounding Cities Enact Burn Restrictions

Spokane, WALocal News

Fire Marshals across the Spokane Metro Area enacted burn restrictions starting June 30, 2025, in response to heightened wildfire risks related to forecasted high temperatures. The restrictions ban unauthorized open burning and recreational fires to minimize human-caused wildfires. Fire Marshal Lance Dahl noted that these measures aim to safeguard community safety and protect homes and wildlands. Residents may use manufactured outdoor devices, such as barbeques, while adhering to the manufacturer's instructions. Violators who fail to extinguish unauthorized fires risk misdemeanor charges.

The Spokane Valley Fire Department urges the public to remain alert and practice fire safety during the summer months. Additionally, officials highlight the detrimental effects of smoke on air quality, particularly for vulnerable populations. By following these guidelines, residents can contribute to a safer environment during the wildfire season.
