Water System Project Will Impact Northwest Intersection

Spokane's water system upgrade will commence on July 7, impacting traffic on Francis Ave. and Assembly St. Motorists should prepare for detours, particularly with northbound Assembly St. closed from Rowan Ave. to Francis Ave.

This $3. 25 million project aims to enhance water reliability and facilitate future growth in the area. The initiative includes three phases, with phase one starting at Francis Ave. /Hwy 291 and moving west to Rifle Club Rd. Temporary traffic signals will be installed to manage flows during construction, which is expected to conclude by November 2025.

Additionally, a noise variance permits work from 6 a. m. to 6 p. m. Monday through Saturday.

Residents are urged to support the local businesses affected by the necessary infrastructure improvements. Future phases will involve additional street closures along various routes.
